Quasars, Redshifts and Controversies
by Halton C. Arp

Halton Arp had been contesting the orthodox view of quasars for twenty years before writing Quasars, Redshifts and Controversies, in which he concludes that, far from being the most distant objects in the universe, quasars are associated in space with relatively nearby galaxies. Their enormous redshifts do not arise from the expansion of the universe, but rather are intrinsic properties of the quasars themselves. This earlier book presents the original observational data and considerations of quasar and galaxy fundamentals that led to the ideas developed in Seeing Red, published in 1998.
