Click to Order Shattered Consensus by Patrick J. Michaels Exposes some remarkable differences between what we are commonly told about global warming and what is really happening. Nine chapters describe major problems with relying on computer simulations, which can be no better than the assumptions or wishful thinking programmed into them. (Garbage In, Gospel Out?) The book comprises a collection of information from ten different scientists dealing with different aspects of the topic, including temperature and precipitation forecasts, volatility of weather patterns, the impact of El Nino, effect of rising temperature on human health, and the contribution of CO2 to warming. A timely caveat when overreaction bordering on neurotic threatens to saddle the world with expensive policies that are likely to have little or no detectable effect.
Patrick J. Michaels is a research professor of environmental science at the University of Virgina, and visiting scientist with the Marshall Institute in Washington, D.C.
