The Skeptical Environmentalist: Measuring the Real State of the World
A Danish statistician and former environmentalist true-believer who embarked on a research project to debunk the claims of the late Julian Simon that by all meaningful indicators resources are becoming cheaper and more abundant, not scarcer, growing populations are a healthy sign, and the quality of life in general is getting better, not worse.
Lomborg's group discovered, however, that contrary to their expectations, the facts vindicated Simon, showing that just about all of the doomsday pictures that "everyone knows" are wildly exaggerated or plain wrong.
Lomborg was subjected to a shoddy personal attack in Scientific American with no appeal to evidence, at first echoed by politically correct official pronouncement, later overturned after review by the Danish Ministry of Science. Maybe heavy for some, but loaded with all the figures and data.
