The global epidemic of climate change hysteria has now lost all connection to science and reality and become a fanatical religion dedicated to dismantling Western society and dictating how some think the world should be forced to live. Anything that advances the ideology is repeated relentlessly, regardless of how many times it has been shown to be in conflict with simply verified facts.

One mantra that needs putting to rest is that 1998 was the hottest year in the 20th century. It wasn't. 1934 was, when the Arctic ice was as thin as that responsible for all the recent panic--before its rapid recovery--and polar bears didn't go extinct. Furthermore, not only did 4 of the 10 hottest years since 1880 occur during the 1930s, but a second zenith was reached in 1940, followed by a gradual drop to below 1930 levels by 1950. Details from Marc Sheppard at OpinionEditorials.com, along with related references. These aren't new findings, but were published a year ago.

A second is that anyone dissenting from the faith must be in the pay of oil companies or other similar nefarious interests. For blatant and shameless hypocrisy, this would take some beating. The amount of private money that finds its way to giving public exposure to the other side of is dwarfed by the government grant funding being poured into buying research that promotes the politically approved line in what's perhaps one of the biggest scientific gravy trains ever. Dr. Mark Hendrickson, writing at Front Page Magazine puts the latter at 50 billion dollars from governments and international organizations using tax money, channeled toward researchers supporting the party line on global warming and away from those skeptical toward it, who found grant money drying up, promotions denied, and even jobs terminated.
