Futures Past

Looking Back At How They Looked Forward

How many remember those wonderful, hopelessly romanticized visions of domestic robots, tower cities, powered jumpsuits, and spaceships the size of ocean liners plying between colonized planets, that the science-fiction and popular science magazines of days gone by carried of how the future would be? Well, we're in it now, and while much that was predicted was quaintly unrealistic, others things that seem obvious enough now were totally missed.

Alex Michael Bonnici, in Malta, wrote to recommend a fantastic web site entitled Tales of Future Past, dedicated to illustrations showing past depictions of the future. A delight to anyone interested in the science-fiction in its grandest old days, and the progress of technology in general.
